Privacy Policy

Draft — pending legal review. Last updated 27 July 2026.

The short version. MyIndia Soundbox reads notifications only from an approved list of payment apps, so it can say your incoming payments out loud. Notifications from every other app — your OTPs, your messages, everything else — are never read and never leave your phone. The text of a payment alert is kept for at most 90 days, only to keep the app reading amounts correctly, and is never used for advertising or profiling.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the MyIndia Soundbox Android application and this website. It explains what information the app handles, why, and what you can do about it.

2. Notification access — the important part

To announce your payments, the app needs Android's notification access permission. Android shows you a clear warning before you grant it, because that permission is powerful. Here is precisely how we use it and how we limit ourselves.

2.1 Only payment apps are read

The app holds an approved list of payment applications. When a notification arrives, the app checks which application posted it. If the application is not on that list, the notification is ignored immediately: it is not read, not stored, not analysed and not sent anywhere.

This means notifications containing one-time passwords, personal messages, email, health information, or anything else outside that list never leave your phone through this app.

2.2 What we do with a payment notification

For a notification from an approved payment app, the app reads the text to find the amount credited to you and announces it aloud on your device. The announcement is produced on your phone.

2.3 Why the text is sent to us at all

Payment apps change the wording of their notifications without warning, and when the wording changes, the app can stop recognising amounts. To detect and fix that, the text of payment notifications is uploaded to us and used to check that our reading rules still work.

That is the only purpose. This text is never used to build a profile of you, never used to target advertising, and never sold or rented to anyone.

2.4 How long it is kept

The raw text of a payment notification is deleted no later than 90 days after we receive it. The information taken out of it — the amount, the time, the payment app — is kept for longer, because that is your own collection history inside the app.

3. Other information the app handles

The app does not ask for and does not want your UPI PIN, your bank login, your card details, or your bank statements. Nobody from MyIndia Soundbox will ever ask you for them.

4. Who else sees your information

We do not sell your information. It is shared only with the service providers that run the app for us — hosting, message delivery for one-time passwords, error reporting — and only to the extent they need it to perform that job. They may not use it for their own purposes.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to investigate fraud or abuse of the service.

5. Your choices

6. Security

Information travels to us over encrypted connections and is stored on access-controlled servers in India. No system is perfect, and we would rather tell you what we limit ourselves to collecting than make a promise about encryption that sounds impressive and means little.

7. Children

The app is intended for people running a business and is not directed at children under 18.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how information is handled, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.

9. Contact
