A customer scans your QR and pays. Your phone says the amount out loud, straight away — so you don't stop mid-sale, wipe your hands and squint at a screen to find out whether it went through.
Android only. Works with the UPI app the customer already has — you don't change anything about how you take payments.
Any counter where you are busy with your hands and your phone is somewhere else.
Weighing, bagging and billing at once, with three people waiting.
You are at the shelf finding a strip while the customer is paying at the counter.
Both hands on the kettle, phone in a drawer or tied to the cart.
Mid-haircut, and the person at the desk needs to know the payment came.
Up a ladder at the back of the shop when the QR code gets scanned.
Standing in noise and sunlight, where a screen is the hardest thing to read.
Three things, done properly, for a shop counter in India.
Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM UPI and more. Whichever app a customer pays from, the credit alert reaches your phone and gets announced.
You keep your existing QR code, your existing bank account and your existing UPI ID. Nothing about your setup changes.
Pick the language you actually speak at the counter. The amount is read out in it — not in English you have to translate in your head while a customer waits.
Twelve languages today, more being added.
Today, this week, this month, or any dates you choose. A plain list of what came in and a total at the end — useful at closing time or when a family member asks.
The announcement is produced on the phone itself. It is not fetched from a server, so a slow or dropping connection doesn't delay it.
To be straight with you about the limit: the payment alert still has to reach your phone from the payment app in the first place. If your phone has no data at all, nothing arrives to announce. What we can promise is that once it arrives, nothing on our side stands between it and the sound.
They scan your usual QR and pay from any UPI app.
The payment app posts its usual credit notification.
The amount is read aloud in your language. No server round trip, no waiting.
Payments from these apps are recognised and announced.
App names and marks belong to their owners. MyIndia Soundbox is not affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with any of them — it simply reads the payment alerts they already send to your phone.
We are new, and we would rather tell you what the app does than tell you how many people love it.
Enter your mobile number, choose your language, allow the app to read payment notifications. That's the whole setup.
The app reads notifications from an approved list of payment apps and nothing else. Your OTPs and personal messages are not touched.
Announcements use your phone's speaker at a volume you control, so you hear it over traffic, a fan, or a crowded counter.
Every announced payment is listed with the time and amount, so you can add up the day without scrolling through your bank app.
When a customer pays you over UPI, their payment app sends a credit notification to your phone — the same one you see on your screen today. MyIndia Soundbox reads that notification, picks out the amount, and speaks it aloud in the language you chose.
You give the app permission to read notifications once, during setup. You keep your existing QR code, UPI ID and bank account, and you don't need any extra hardware.
Twelve at the moment: Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and Assamese. You choose one during setup and can change it any time.
More are being added. If the language you speak at your counter isn't here yet, tell us — that is how we decide which one comes next.
Here is exactly what happens, in plain terms.
Only payment apps are ever read. The app works from an approved list of payment applications. A notification from any other app — your OTPs, your WhatsApp messages, your health or banking apps outside that list — is never read and never leaves your phone.
The text of a payment alert is kept for at most 90 days, and only so we can keep the app accurate when payment apps change the wording of their alerts. It is never used to build a profile of you and never used for advertising. After 90 days that text is deleted; only the amount and time are kept, so your own collection history stays intact.
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Nothing is lost. Every payment the app announced stays in your list inside the app, with the amount and the time, so you can check it at the end of the day.
If an announcement doesn't play at all — the phone was on silent, the battery saver shut the app down, or a payment app changed its alert wording — the payment itself is still safely in your bank account. Your bank and your UPI app remain the record that counts; this app is there to save you the trip to the screen. If announcements stop working for you, write to us with the payment app you use and we will look into it.
MyIndia Soundbox is being readied for the Play Store. If you would like to be told the day it is available, send us a message and we will let you know.
